Our Hot Caramel Latte combines rich espresso, creamy milk, and a luscious homemade caramel sauce for the perfect indulgence. Ingredients:
- 1¾ ounces alcohol of choice (bourbon, rum, Irish cream liqueur, coffee liqueur, etc.)
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ⅓ cup water
- 1¼ cups milk
- ½ cup hot espresso
Directions
- Make the caramel: In a small, heavy saucepan, combine the sugar with 2 tablespoons of water. Heat gently until the sugar dissolves, then boil rapidly for 4–5 minutes without stirring, until the mixture turns a golden caramel.
- Finish the caramel: Remove from heat and carefully pour in the remaining water. Stir until the caramel dissolves, then return the pan to the heat and simmer for an additional 3–4 minutes, until syrupy.
- Prepare the latte: In a separate saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until almost boiling. Remove from heat, then stir in the espresso and almost all the caramel sauce. Whisk until frothy and divide between two tall latte glasses.
- Serve with a flourish: Drizzle the remaining caramel sauce over the top for a decadent finish.

Variation for the Holidays:
For a festive winter twist, substitute 2 tablespoons of gingerbread-flavored syrup for the caramel. Omit steps 1, 2, and 4 for a quick and delicious holiday treat.
