Rustic Ham & Havarti Melt with Farm-Fresh Peppers

Our Rustic Ham & Havarti Melt is stacked with hearty flavors and topped with garden-fresh peppers and onions – all cooked to perfection in a cast iron skillet. Whether you’re making lunch after a hike or whipping up a quick, satisfying dinner, this sandwich will hit the spot.

🧀 Why You’ll Love This Sandwich:

  • Combines savory deli ham with creamy Havarti for the perfect melt
  • Topped with sweet sautéed bell peppers and onions for a flavor boost
  • Toasted in a cast iron skillet for that irresistible crispy finish
  • Easily customizable with your favorite bread or extras

📝 Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of deli ham (or any farm-style ham you love)
  • 2 slices of Havarti cheese
  • 2 large slices of Romaine lettuce
  • 4-6 slices of pepperoni (for extra savory depth)
  • ½ red bell pepper, sliced
  • ½ yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • ½ green bell pepper, sliced
  • ¼ yellow onion, sliced
  • Freshly cracked black pepper
  • Butter or olive oil for skillet
  • 2 slices of your favorite sandwich bread (or enjoy open-faced like we do!)

🍳 Instructions:

  1. Prep the veggies: In a skillet, sauté the sliced bell peppers and onions in olive oil or butter over medium heat. Cook until slightly soft and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Season with cracked black pepper.
  2. Layer the sandwich: On a slice of bread or directly in the skillet, layer ham, Havarti cheese, a piece of romaine lettuce, and 2–3 slices of pepperoni. Top with the sautéed veggies.
  3. Grill the sandwich: If using bread, place the other slice on top and grill in the skillet with a bit of butter until golden brown and the cheese is melty. If going open-faced, just heat until everything is warm and slightly crispy on the bottom.
  4. Serve hot: Slice in half if desired, and enjoy with a side salad, pickles, or homemade chips.
